Rates are in US dollars. Starting rates apply to manuscripts suited to the scope described. After reviewing your project and a sample, I’ll send a written quote with the deliverables and schedule. I’ll get your approval before adding any work.

Your written quote will confirm the manuscript version, included stages, file formats, payment schedule, and dates. Structural editing, substantial new writing, and additional editions are outside these packages unless listed in your quote. Request a package quote.
Copyediting & Line Editing
Copyediting — from $0.025 per word
For a manuscript whose structure and prose are largely settled. I review grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, and consistency while preserving intentional voice and style. I flag unclear passages and inconsistencies in details such as names, capitalization, and timeline references.
You receive a Word document with tracked changes and comments, a style sheet, and one consolidated email follow-up about the delivered edits within 30 days.
Copyediting is one pass. It does not include extensive sentence rewriting, structural revision, independent research or fact-checking, or a later final proofread unless your package includes it.
Line & Copyediting — from $0.030 per word
For a structurally settled manuscript that needs closer attention to the prose. I work through sentences and paragraphs to improve clarity, rhythm, word choice, and flow while retaining your voice, and address grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency in the same pass.
You receive a tracked Word document, a style sheet, a short summary of recurring issues, and one consolidated email follow-up within 30 days. This service does not include rebuilding the plot, rewriting the manuscript for you, or editing newly written chapters. A later proofread is included only in a package that lists it.
Developmental Editing
Available by inquiry · developmental stage from $0.040 per word.
For a manuscript that needs work on its overall shape. I examine structure, pacing, character development or narrative progression, and the reader’s experience. You receive an editorial letter identifying priorities, plus comments in the manuscript to help you plan revisions.
The developmental stage includes one manuscript review and one consolidated email follow-up about the feedback within 30 days. It does not automatically include a fresh review of your revised manuscript.
If you want support through later stages, I can quote a package that includes line and copyediting and a final proofread scheduled after your revisions. Formatting can also be included in the written proposal.
Proofreading
For an edited manuscript that is ready for its final check.
I look for remaining spelling, punctuation, typographical, and minor grammatical errors. In a formatted proof, I also check headings, page numbers, spacing, and obvious layout inconsistencies.
You receive an annotated PDF or Word document, as agreed. The service includes one full proofreading pass and a check of listed corrections after they are applied.
Proofreading does not include line editing, structural changes, or a fresh edit of substantial new material. If the manuscript needs more extensive work, I’ll explain the options before proceeding.

Sensitivity Reading
Focused feedback on representation within an agreed area of experience.
Before accepting a project, we’ll discuss the identities, experiences, and questions you want the reading to address. I’ll confirm whether my perspective is a suitable fit for that specific brief.
You receive comments on relevant passages and a written summary of concerns, questions, and possible revisions. One consolidated email follow-up about the feedback is included within 30 days.
A sensitivity reading offers one informed perspective; it does not speak for an entire community or certify that every reader will respond the same way. It does not include a general manuscript edit or review outside the agreed scope.
From $0.015 per word for the agreed material.
Book Formatting
For a finished, edited manuscript ready to become a book interior.
I format your text for a consistent, readable paperback interior and reflowable EPUB. This includes chapter headings, scene breaks, paragraph styles, front and back matter supplied by you, and navigation appropriate to each format.
The standard service includes one paperback trim size, a print-ready interior PDF for the agreed platform, an EPUB, file checks, and one consolidated round of layout adjustments. Hardcover interiors, additional trim sizes, illustrations, complex tables, and unusual layouts are quoted separately.
Formatting does not include cover design, manuscript editing, a full proofread, retailer account setup, or upload and publishing management. If I spot an editing issue, I’ll flag it and discuss any additional work with you before proceeding.
From $0.010 per word; $250 minimum for standard paperback + EPUB formatting.
